Ants

Prevention & Treatment

  1. Glue Trap
To monitor the severity of infestation.

  2. Gel Bait Application
Multiple poisonous gel bait stations installation around the premises.

  3. Spraying
Residual pesticides spraying around the premises, including breeding sources, to get rid of the colony.

While some ant species have colonies supported by a single queen, others have several queens, there are many different ant species. Although there are about 23 species of ants known to exist in Malaysia, very few of them are often encountered on our property. These consist of:

Types of Ants

Black House Ant

These ants are considered a nuisance because they scavenge in rubbish, dog waste, and kitchens, potentially spreading illnesses like salmonella. Finding the colony and treating it is the best form of control.

Red Fire Ants

Dead animals, including insects, earthworms, and vertebrates, make up the food of foraging workers.

Additionally, workers gather honeydew and go in search of sweet foods, proteins, and lipids. Their nesting sites might be close to ground-level objects like logs or a mound up to 40 cm high. These respond strongly when agitated and can cause a painful sting that develops into a pustule 48 hours later. These ants are a serious agricultural and urban pest that invade both indoor and outdoor living spaces and ruin crop

Odorous House Ant

The pungent, rotten coconut-like stink that the odorous house ant emits when crushed is how it gets its name.

Odorous house ants eat most common household foods, particularly sweets and fruit like melons that are high in sugar as well as eat pet food. They are drawn to wetness. Their nests can be discovered in indoor plants and even toilet lids in hot, dry settings. When these ants are crushed, their odours give off a sour coconut smell. Their colonies come in sizes between 2,000 and 10,000.

Signs of Ants infestation

If you notice a lot of live ants, you might be dealing with a problem. You must act quickly if you discover them in your kitchen or other areas where food is prepared. Another clue is the presence of ant trails leading into and out of your home or property. Some types of ants will leave a pheromone trail leading to a source of food. Other ants follow this path from the colony to the source of food. An ant nest site may resemble a little mound of earth or soil. Some ant species prefer to live in walls or other quiet, hidden locations because they are more difficult to find.
